How to Make 2016 the Best Year Ever

how to make 2016 your best year

Its a new year.

And look?

January is gone, already!

With 11 months to go, how do you plan on making 2016 the best year ever?

Its not a good thing, but I always get motivated when its last minute. That feeling of urgency, like I had to get it done yesterday, pushes me to "want" to get things done.

The problem is when its last minute, I have more than one thing to do, and that overwhelmed feeling causes me to do nothing.

The immense feeling or urgency and the overwhelming feeling that leaves me confused all happens within 5 seconds.

So, what now?

Well, tomorrow is another day, and when tomorrow gets here, I just repeat what happened the day before, and do NOTHING again.

I'm a procrastinator.

Well, I was...

I would blame my procrastination on being a perfectionist, but only victims do that. I'd like to think that my life is in my hands, and that I'm the sole architect of my life's journey.

Self Awareness is Key

If people aren't aware of:

2016 will not be what it could be.

You may be aware that someone's ongoing behavior doesn't map what they want to achieve in their life, but does that really matter? The answer is no, because people need to be aware of it themselves. Otherwise, they'll react to your opinion of how they're handling things.

Some people have a scrambled idea of what they want to achieve, but its not specific at all. And what do confused people do?

Absolutely Nothing.

Other people are aware of their position in life, they are specific about what they want, but they don't have the specific education or skill to create a favorable outcome for themselves.

All 3 parts are needed, or else nothing happens.

What “Exactly” do You Want to Accomplish in 2016?

Figure out with clarity what you want to accomplish in 2016, and stick to it. What's hard about sticking with this, is that you "right now," will feel different about things 11 months down the road.

Our past self, present self and future rarely agree with things.

The decision we make today is always the right decision, because its how we finish; its not about how we start, as long as we start.

Given how life works, we don't know for sure how things will unfold in the future.

Making that first step towards achieving your goals this year will cause momentum. And half the battle. If you want to go to the gym, just focus on putting on your shorts and Puma's, and head out the door with your car keys in hand.

The rest is easy.

Focus on Specific Education

Do you want to be a mechanic? Don't waste time with education that isn't relevant to being a mechanic until you become a mechanic.

Do you want to be an actress? Stop wasting hours of your time watching funny video's, and start adding value to your desire by using all of those hours—and then some—to learn about what it takes to become an actor.

How about an entrepreneur? There are a lot of people that will pay you for what you know. All you have to do is know a bit more than them, and have that become clear about what you speak about.

Time is the most valuble asset.

And you will waste it if you're not sure about what you want to accomplish. Or worse. You know what you want to accomplish, but you use most of your time on things that won't support your bottom line.

Take Action

The big picture can be intimidating.

People don't do anything when they feel overwhelmed. If the mind is focused on "all the work" that needs to be done, it won't feel good about the actions that's needed to perform that work.

If you stood in front of mirror, and all you see is flab and low confidence, it'll be super hard to imagine yourself looking like your fitness idol.

No one is born with huge biceps.

Have you seen Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime?

THAT physique was achieved by a daily method of operation that he did on a consistent and persistent basis.

He took MASSIVE ACTION.

If you don't take action, all of your expertise is only good for a conversation at Starbucks over a cup of coffee.

Take action.

Its the only way.

Have a Great Attitude

Of course!

Most of what you want to accomplish will depend on how you feel. And no, this isn't 100% true. Achieving something that's worth it will depend on doing it when you don't feel like it doing it.

Its crazy...

...but when people are looking up reviews for something that they want to buy, they're focusing on all of the bad reviews.

I do this too!

Why?

The desire to NOT lose something is greater than the desire to gain something. Simply put, we don't want to make a bad decision (we'll lose money). Finding very few bad reviews on something gives us reassurance that we're making a good choice.

So control your focus.

There's no doubt that you can find reasons to not do something, but why focus on that when focusing on the good is an option?

Let's make 2016 a great year!
